AV/PA Club is a duty-shift oriented CCA in Christ Church Sec, as students are grouped in duty shifts and they normally do their PA duties for a week before they rotate with the next shift. The main PA duties in charge by AV/PA Club members include:
1. Morning assembly – setting up of PA system and playing of National Anthem and School anthem
2. Chapel sessions – assisting Christian Fellowship students and pastor in PA system set up in the hall for song or speech sessions
3. School functions – setting up of hall’s PA and sound system during all hall activities such as hall programmes, special events such as Chinese New Year celebration, Speech Day, National Day celebration, Teachers’ Day celebration, Bicultural Exchange Programmes etc.
4. Photo taking for special activities such as Carnival, Bicultural Programmes, school events such as Sports Day, National Day Parade etc.
In 2001 to 2002, the Garage@CHR was set up to provide AV/PA Club members with a chance to learn multimedia and latest IT software and equipment to promote innovation and enterprise among the students. The idea of Garage@CHR was derived from the start up of HP company. Because of the extra knowledge that the students gained from learning and mastering of software such as Photoshop and Flash and using the skills to design posters, handouts, newsletters, banners etc, the Club was re-named Digital Media Company (DMC), which gives the students a special identity. As such, the students have increased responsibilities in school, which includes design and printing services for teachers, projects and school functions.
DMC has a group of students whom when they first come in, they have been told their duties and most importantly, the sacrificial spirit that each member should have to perform their PA or Garage duties for the school. They must be willing and able to perform duties diligently and efficiently and they must be able to handle both CCA and school work well. |
