Wushu is a CCA that has been set up in the year 2008. Initially, there were only seven members but now, we have recruited more members.
There are several benefits of practicing Wushu. Firstly, Wushu is a vigorous sport that involves a lot of moving, jumping, running and stretching. You can become fit and healthy by practicing Wushu everyday. Also, it is possible to loss weight and builds muscles if Wushu is practiced for a period of time.
Besides training the body, Wushu also trains the mind. Determination, perseverance, integrity, discipline and sportsmanship are taught to students by the teachers and trainers.
In Wushu, there are three ways of practicing. They are changquan (fast), nanquan (hard) and taiji (slow). The four main weapons used in Wushu are namely the cudgel, sword (long) , spear and broadsword (short). There are also other weapons besides these four main weapons. Apart from just learning from school, we have annual competitions and occasionally performances.
The National Inter-school Wushu competition is held on a yearly basis. Schools will send representatives to compete in an event. Our school has sent several representatives early this year. We intend to achieve good results for next year's competition. |
